Summary

Amends the:

to: expand the grounds upon which a control order can be requested and issued; reduce the information required to be provided to the Attorney-General when seeking consent to request an interim control order; extend the time before the material provided to an issuing court must be provided to the Attorney-General where a request for an urgent interim control order has been made to an issuing court; require the Attorney-General to advise the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security before amending a regulation that lists a terrorist organisation and to allow the committee to review any proposed change during the disallowance period; and to: provide that it is a function of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) to provide assistance to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in support of military operations and to cooperate with the ADF on intelligence matters; and remedy limitations in the arrangements for emergency ministerial authorisations which apply to ASIS, the Australian Signals Directorate and the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation.
